Student Council is committed to making an impact on our community and beyond in the form of helpful projects and charitable donations.
Break Room
To better support mental health at WHS, Student Council has worked over the past year to create a place where students can take their mind off stress, whether they are anxious for a test or overstimulated and in need of a quiet space. Containing Yogibo beanbag seating, fidget toys, board games, and more, the Break Room is built to be the students’ crutch for whenever they need it.
Green Team
With climate change becoming an increasingly pressing issue, Student Council is looking for ways to make bring WHS students together to create a more sustainable and environmentally-aware school. Members worked with the art teachers to create a large-scale piece that wove trash into art, preventing plastic bags, old fabric and and packaging from ending up in landfills or the environment.
Club List
To help students navigate the diverse array of clubs at Winchester High School, the Student Council manages a list of every student-run organization and their contacts. Our list can be found under the Useful Links tab! Any requested updates should be directed to whsscwebsite@gmail.com.
Student Athlete Photography
In September 2019, Student Council hung seventeen framed prints of student athletes in the hallways of the WHS athletic wing! We hope that these prints will showcase the WHS athletic program, as well as liven up the previously empty walls near the gym. If you do not see your team represented, don’t worry! We will be changing the photos periodically to keep the project current and guarantee that every sport is showcased at some point.
Donations
Through fundraising and publicity events such as the WHS Spirit Fair, the Sachems Holiday Marketplace, our famous half-day Cookie Walks, Night of the Arts, Valentines Day Carnations, and more, we work to raise money in the name of our organization. Then, after researching different organizations, we collectively vote where to donate. In the past, we have made the following contributions:
